Air France - Sky Team

Families & children

Are you traveling as a family? Air France takes great care to ensure you are comfortable on board: special meals for infants and children, games, gifts, etc. Our cabin crew makes sure your flight will
be a truly pleasant experience!

If traveling on an adult´s lap, infants under 2 years of age fly free of charge
on domestic flights within France. On international flights, infants receive a 90% fare reduction. You also have the option of booking a seat for your infant
(child fare).
To benefit from our services and make your flight more enjoyable, please remember to let us know that you will be traveling with an infant when you book your trip.

Who may travel with an infant

  • On all flights, an infant must be accompanied by a passenger over the age of 18*.
  • Each passenger may accompany only one infant. To travel with 2 infants, a 2nd passenger, over the age of 18*, is necessary.

* Exception: a passenger under 18 years of age can accompany an infant if he or she is the child´s father, mother, or legal guardian.

Priority boarding

Families traveling with infants will receive priority at boarding time.
Practical advice
  • Prior to departure, remember to make sure that you have all the documents for infants that are required by the police, customs agents, and immigration officers of your destination country.
    • Travel is not recommended for infants in the 7 days following birth.
    • Avoid travel if your infant is ill.
    • If your infant is receiving medical treatment or suffers from travel sickness, remember to bring his or her medical record and medications.
    • Remember to bring the items necessary for changing your infant (diapers, wipes, etc.).
    • Opt for comfortable and warm clothing (sweaters and socks).
    • During take-off and landing, give your infant a pacifier, bottle, lollipop or a cookie in order to reduce possible earaches.
    • Bring enough bottles and food for the trip. Make sure that your infant drinks amply during the flight.

Additional baggage allowance

An infant traveling on a parent's lap receives a baggage allowance of 10 kg / 22 lb. You can also transport a foldable stroller (maximum size: 15 x 30 x 100 cm / 5.9 x 11.8 x 39.4 in.) at no extra charge. This type of stroller may also be accepted in the cabin on long-haul flights*, as long as enough space is available in the overhead compartments.

* Except for long-haul flights to Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Saint Martin, Cayenne, Réunion, Seychelles, Mauritius, Punta Cana, Havana, Santo Domingo.

Meals on board

On flights of 2 ½ hours or more, a special meal, including cookies and jars of baby food, is available for your infant.
Remember to request the special meal when booking your trip or purchasing your ticket, or at least 24 hours before your departure time.

Skycot and regulation-sized car seat

You can request a skycot:
  • on medium-haul flights in the Affaires cabin,
  • on long-haul flights in the Affaires, Alizé, Premium Voyageur and Voyageur* cabins.

Skycots are designed for infants weighing less than 10 kg / 22 lbs and measuring less than 70 cm / 27 in. Changing tables are also available on long-haul flights.
Please note: it is not possible to request a skycot online. To make your request, please contact us at least 24 hours before departure.
If you book a seat for your infant (child fare), you can choose to use a car seat that conforms to official regulations for his/her comfort and safety.

* Skycots are not available in the La Première cabin.

Fun gifts

On intercontinental flights, infants will receive a set of gifts (brightly colored stuffed animals and toys) to liven up the trip and entertain them.
